Noise Figure analysis of C-band low noise amplifiers for IEEE 802.11 b/g and IEEE 802.15 for recent process technologies

The sensitivity of communications systems is limited by noise. Noise figure for low noise amplifier (LNA) design is highly relevant for LNA’s prima-facie function for adding as low as noise to be added to the desired signal amplification when simulated for system level configuration for varied frequencies ranges. In this paper the noise figure was analyzed as performance parameter for C-band for 0.18 μm CMOS LNA designs for IEEE 802.11 b/g and IEEE 802.15. The analyzed results predicted a general pattern followed by noise figure as process technology size is reduced, a major breakthrough for Moore’s enthusiasts and gave a justified choice for low noise amplifier (LNA) design.
